The Big Trip - 2014 Edition - Los Angeles, Japan and Vancouver

The first leg of our 2014 trip involved a flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Los Angeles via Panama.  It was a very long, grueling flight, and we were a bit more than sleepy when we arrived in LA to be greeted by my best friend, Fiona.  We stayed with her for a couple of days and had an opportunity to take a lovely walk through the streets of Griffith Park and Silver Lake.  The landscaping is beautiful.  It was a much needed quicky visit to catch up with my old pal and just hang out.

This photo shows the deco type architecture that is so common in Los Angeles... even some of the older tunnels and bridges are good examples of this.

It was cool in the Hollywood Hills, but sitting outside with a glass of wine and a good friend was priceless.
This house with white roses in front is just one of many examples of gorgeous landscaping that people have.  We took this photo specifically for my mother in law who loves flowers almost as much as me!

Another prime example of well preserved architecture.  Everywhere you look there are pretty, retro type buildings.
These tree roots are very impressive.  It looks almost as if the tree is sitting, facing you with arms folded in front.  Nature never ceases to amaze!

This is an evening shot of the Griffith Park Observatory as seen from Fiona's back deck.
