Vigo
Sadly, we had a rainy, grey and somewhat coolish day in Vigo. Out came the ponchos and warm clothes.
It was easy to see, though, that this town, on a sunny day, would be quite pretty, and even in the mist and drizzle, it had a lot of charm.
Vigo is located on the coast and is part of the north western part of Spain known as Galacia. It is a fishing port town primarily. I confess, prior to the cruise, I had never heard of Vigo and we are both always happy to visit lesser known places. One has a more authentic experience of how people live and also get to be humbled by how much of the world there is to know about and visit....
This is one of the 150 archaeological sites in Vigo, which, according to their website (http://www.turismodevigo.org/en/archaeology-vigo) has sites and findings from the Paleolithic, Roman and Medieval eras.
Above and below, Castro Fortress.
Not a bustling city, by any stretch of the imagination. There were many empty streets like this. That said, Vigo felt like a sleepy town, but this could be in large part due to the dismal weather.
